Competitions are over for the year.  I hope you and your studios had fun and did Grrrrreat!

Everyone at BSD had lots of fun and some really great results.  We also had a few hick-ups and some stress, but I think our team handled it amazingly well.  We won some special awards, some overall first places, a few scholarships and, most importantly to me, I won a character award!!!!  I think that one means the most.  The lesson I have learned from competing is that it is important to remember throughout every competition, that your team, the competitors and spectators and the people putting on the event all want, most of all, for everything to go well and for everyone to have a fantastic time.  I think if you remember that, try your best, but also support everyone else and help out where you can, you are taking responsibility, yourself, for creating a successful event.  I also won a scholarship to Broadway Bound and I am really thankful, but, most of all, I just had fun dancing and making new friends.

I am so proud of all of my team, some of whom competed while they were sick and injured, but they were totally amazing and danced even though we were all worried about them.  They didn’t want to let the team down.  I have learned a lot of work ethics from my team at BSD.  Amazing people!

I bet everyone has stories to take away from the competitions that we will remember forever and change us in some small way.  I loved meeting new people, seeing some amazing dancers, spending time with my team.  What a great season. I am now getting ready for my recitals at BSD and my end of year showcase at NBS.  I can’t believe that another dance year is almost over.  I learned a lot this year and I have my great teachers to thank for that.  Miss Hanson at NBS is a totally amazing ballet teacher.  She has helped me with my technique and just inspires me with her positive attitude and her smile.  You know those teachers who just make you want to show them your absolute best, well she is that kind of teacher.  Of course, Ms. Jane from BSD and Miss Alex, they are amazing and supportive and always ready to correct me and push me to improve.  I loved my jazz classes both at NBS and BSD, the choreography is so much fun.

To get ready for recitals, my Mom and I went through all my competition outfits to see what needs washed and they we packed all my costumes in separate bags with the shoes, so I am all ready.  I can’t believe that this is the last time this year I have to get all my gear together.  What am I going to do with all this stuff?  My closet is getting crowded.  I think there should be a costume warehouse where everyone can store costumes.  I would definitely have more room in my closet.

Now it is time to get out on stage and show ‘em what you’ve got!  I hope that everyone has a super time at year-end recitals and just goes out on stage and dance each dance like it is the last time you will ever dance.  Make it a great day.

Bye for now!
