My name is Emily Prue. I started dancing almost 9 years ago and this is my 7th competitive year. I moved to Imagine Arts last year when it opened. Image Arts is the most unique studio ever because we have monthly theme weeks. I love to dress according to the theme. Some examples of theme weeks are: Disney, Hallowe’en, Christmas, Anime, Hibernation, and Mardi Gras.

This Christmas was very exciting at our studio as we entered a  float into the Newmarket Santa Clasue Parade and we won the Best Commercial Float award. We all helped make the decorations for the float and it was very exciting to win.

This year I am competing in Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Tap and I also have a Tap duet. I have also competed in ballet. My top two favourite dances are Tap and Musical Theatre. I will be doing the grade 4 ballet exam this year. I am at the studio 5 days a week for a total of 11 hours a week. I am in grade 7 at school and when I get home from school I have an hour and a half to do my homework, eat and get ready for dance. So far I have been able to keep up with school work and get to the studio on time. In my spare time I like to read. I also love to travel and just came back from my 4th cruise this time through the Panama Canal and we also went to South America.

How many hours a week do you dance?
I dance about 11 hours a week.

Who is your favourite dancer?
This is a hard question to answer I would love to say myself however I would have to say I love all the dancers on my competitive team.

Through education in dance, theatre, music and visual art we guide our students to discover their potential as individuals and artists. Open communication with our students, parents and staff is key and whether they want to perform recreationally or competitively, we want to help every student to grow, reach their goals and have fun!

Imagine Arts students have many options, and programs are tailored to fit their goals be they to dance recreationally in our open class structure; educationally taking technique and exam classes (RAD); competitively, representing the Studio; or a combination of all three. Classes are offered for ages 3 and up in ballet and musical theatre and 4 and up in jazz, tap, acro, contemporary, lyrical, tap, song & dance and hip hop.  High school students working towards a career in dance or the performing arts should consider auditioning for our vocational program. Imagine Arts Inc. instructors have more than 15 years experience teaching in and around our community.  These talented individuals choreograph routines that inspire and challenge students, both as dancers and individuals and teach technique classes and workshops that instil the skills that let our dancers meet those challenges.  We pride ourselves in guiding our students as they discover the joys and rewards in perseverance and we are honoured to celebrate with them in their accomplishments.

For adult students our motto is “Dance like no one is laughing!”  Our popular adult programs are a great way to have fun and stay fit! Whether you are a novice or returning to a first love, our merry, relaxed and upbeat classes provide a much-needed break from the day-to-day.  Classes in belly-dance, ballet, hip hop, yoga and tap are offered and the best part is that you don’t need to be flexible since the program is.  Adult classes are on a ticketed basis – no weekly commitment is required so you can stretch your body and your creativity on your schedule.
