Abby: Nicole Jacklin
Wow, what a great summer we had at the Nicole Jacklin School of Dance.  Our studio did two flash mobs in July. The first one was in Alliston to celebrate Canada Day and the second one was in Tottenham to celebrate Tottenham Community Week.  We had great turn outs for both events by dancers of all ages.  As well, our studio held competitive and recreational summer camps and classes which kept us dancing all summer. In August, the Nicole Jacklin competitive team danced in the 40th annual Potato Festival in Alliston which was so much fun!  Our dancers performed on the main street in Alliston in front of large crowds who really enjoyed our high energy dance routines.  This summer I also played recreational soccer, participated in a soccer tournament and visited several places with my family.  But one of the very best experiences I had this summer was to be fitted for my very first pair of pointe shoes.   I am extremely excited about the dance year ahead and going on pointe!

Abigail: Elite Dance Corps
Over the course of the summer, we have been
quite busy over at Elite Dance Corps. With registration for our coming season over and done, the processing of all the participants must get completed. On top of
that, throughout the summer we have been working on the competitive extra dances (solos, duets, trios, special groups and productions) because we do not have time to fit them into our weekly schedule for the coming year.

Blaire: Irish Dance Studio
August is, in my opinion, the calm before the storm.  It’s when most dancers are beginning to return to class from a break after Nationals.  We have wrapped up our celebrity camp – which is for our stage division dancers and brings in outside choreographers to challenge and develop the abilities of the dancers.  We have also concluded our recreational arts and dance camps for those just entering the world of dance. With only a few weeks left of summer, we have camps left for our novice/prizewinner level dancers as well as our preliminary/ open championship level dancers.   Registration for the 2013/2014 season is just around the corner and it promises to be an amazing season!

Bridget Barton 2-2Bridget: DanceBridge
This past month was national dance day, I dedicated the day to doing a lot of stretches, learning some new choreography and just improving some moves I needed to work on! Because this year I was not able to attend our intense dance camp I haven’t been doing that much summer dancing at the studio so I have been at home running over last years choreography to get myself prepared for this up coming season. I have also been trying to go swimming as much as possible and do some work outs to keep me in shape. As the new dance season is drawing near I am very excited to begin dancing again, and seeing my team mates.

Caitlin: A2Y
This summer has been amazing and has gone by so quickly! We have had some really exciting things happen at A2Y.  Yossi and Liat were happily married in June and invited us all for dessert and dancing! We all had such a great time and thank them very much for including us in their special day. Every one looked beautiful especially Princess Liat ! Also, some of our dancers went to Candance Nationals in Florida in the early part of July. With amazing technology, we were all able to watch a live feed and cheer for them, from home. The summer is my favourite time of year, where we get to try out new amazing cheorgraphy during summer drop in classes. I also attend a weekly tumbling class that keeps me in shape for all of my Acro tricks and allows me to try out some new ones. We have a lot of new dancers that will be joining our A2Y family this year and I can’t wait to welcome them all with HUGS. I don’t want to see the summer go to quickly but I am so excited to see what Aly and Yossi have in store for us this year. Each year gets better and better!

Carmen: Allegro Dance Academy
Hey Everyone, just because it is summer doesn’t mean we don’t dance. Coming up this month I have my second dance camp of the summer.  Last month we had an intensive camp focusing on new skills and techniques.  The next one is for our competitive team and we’ll start to get ourselves back into shape for the upcoming season and begin learning new routines.  I love going to the camps; getting to see my dance teacher, my friends, and of course, to dance. Camps are always a lot of fun. This summer I have also done a ton of stretching to increase my strength and flexibility. I have done simple stretches, have begun using a resistance band and worked on some new skills. I have also been working out to focus on strengthening my legs and core muscles – a must for any dancer! Gotta stay in shape so I can move properly and do what my teachers need me to this season!  Thanks for reading.

Katie: Northern Lights
Hi again, it’s Katie! I hope you’ve had a great summer so far, I definitely have. But with the upcoming dance season right around the corner I’ve spent the past couple of weeks getting back into shape. I have been stretching out my splits once or twice a day, practicing my tricks (pirouettes, split jumps, opens, etc.), and using a railing in my house as a dance barre and practicing my ballet barre exercises. All of this preparation is for my studio’s competitive tryouts! Also, guess what for the first time ever, Northern Lights is offering a competitive production! It’s going to be AWESOME!!! I’m so exited for the upcoming season, and have a great rest of the summer. Bye for now

Larysa: iDance
So far this summer my studio has been very busy! In July iDance put on summer camps for kids ages 6-10. They did dance, watched movies, and did arts and craft. The last full week of august they also put on an intensive camp for all the competitive dancers ages 9 and up. They had amazing choreographers come in, and even had Geisha from So You Think You Can Dance Canada. They have also been running drop in classes every Tuesday and each week is a new style. It is so much fun!! iDance has been very busy over the break and we hope everyone has had a great summer.

Megan: AM Dance Force
AM Dance Force dancers enjoyed the first week of dance camp in July where we learned many fun dances from both our studio and guest teachers, we’ll also have a second week in August. We have also been active in the community by participating in Kids in the Square and the Rep your Region talent show. There were many diverse acts there and we are proud to say that Jesse Murchison-Doggart from AM Dance Force came first for York Region and will be moving onto the finals in September. We’re gearing up for an exciting dance season, visit our Facebook page at A.M. Dance Force Dancers for upcoming fall registration dates.

Rebecca: York Dance Academy
Hi there everyone! Hows your summer been? YDA has been busy, busy this summer from dance intensive full day camps and half day munchkin movement camps to many evening classes that YDA offers. We are also very excited to announce 6 new teachers are joining the YDA family bringing their different backgrounds and talents with them. Along with our new teachers YDA is also introducing Irish Dancing with Deirdre Hamilton one of the newest members of YDA bringing with her over 15 years of extensive Irish Dance training. YDA will also be offering drop in classes for the month of August. You can read all about our teachers, camps and nightly classes at our website! As far as my summer goes I’ve been pretty busy too. I’ve been dancing here and there but also skating a bit and every night I try to do a bit of stretch and strengthening to keep up my flexibility! Luckily, I’ve still found time for trips and family get togethers. I’m getting very excited for September to come! I can’t wait to get back to the studio full time and start working on Unionville High School’s upcoming performances. Hope everyone’s summer has been fun! Only 3 weeks left so lets enjoy it while it lasts.

Sarah: Borden Dance
I’m so excited, my dance season starts in three weeks! The time has gone by so fast. Last week I went to Winning Techniques Camp and took the dance program. They have a variety night on Fridays, so we performed a jazz / acro dance to Addicted to You from The Next Step. The dance was on the beach, so it was fairly difficult, but still fun! During that time, I had made many friends (especially with the skaters!), done many new things (I nailed that rope course!!!), and so much more that I couldn’t fit into just one paragraph. It’s an experience I’ll never forget!!!!!!!

Taura: Studio 48
